What Is Operations Management? Operations management (OM) is what a majority of U.S. companies consider a management relationship with operations. Based on many years of experience, the key difference in what operations takes place is that an organization makes decisions based on management decisions. For instance, if you look at Fortune’s book on operations, you see that Operations Management is the work of people all over the globe. Essentially, your employee receives a report, results, and other feedback that essentially consists of identifying and making a recommendation. By understanding the job function of your organization, you develop a conceptual understanding of the operating principles, the way the company’s processes work, how it works, and decision makers who make decisions.
