City Of Charlotte Baddell City of Charlotte Baddell, also known as Downtown Charlotte, is a multi-state, historic neighborhood in the business district of North Charlotte, NC and in the border region to that of the Boston area. Located on North State Parkway, it is bounded on the left by Grand Duke and on the right by Union Square. Though not directly connected to the main urban center in Charlotte, it is commonly referred to in the area as the “City of Charlotte-Baton Rouge”. At its peak, the area founds its most notable area of architecture until the mid-19th century. From this time, the city can be viewed as a part of various architectural trends that have been evolving since the turn of the twentieth century. By the late 1940s, the city of Charlotte-Baton Rouge had evolved away from an agricultural tradition to more industrial and urban business and in order to attract business and home buyers, the city was under increasing pressure to adopt commercial oriented models to ensure low service rates for the downtown areas of the area, particularly in late, early and mid-1940s. With the early real estate boom generating high value for commercial real estate in such areas as Mid-South and the West End, a culture of having low service times proved beneficial for many of the central southern suburbs to place in those areas. Geography Local neighborhoods north of Charlotte Baddell include Dillard’s Grove, Harrison Road, Redford Road, Grub Street, White Horse Street, and City of Charlotte, Charlotte Gardens, and Little Grove.
